A Small Peek and a Title Search


 It started with a piece of felted and fulled white wool sweater as a blank canvas.  With the addition of some wool roving , some dyed cheese cloth, a few bits of knitted sweaters of various fibers, some more roving, an ocean-scape became apparent.( To enlarge photos, click on each shot.)


 Some hand stitches with various green threads, various shades of fine tulle netting,


 Some singeing of organza, some beach rocks stitched into vintage linen pockets


 More layers of tulle and strands of organza kelp, a few fish of various sizes

More hand dyed linens , stitching , beads and some shells, some sponges made from mesh vegetable bags lined with orange silk and the ocean-scape is taking on great depth and detail.

This  tapestry/textile Collage piece will hopefully be my big new piece  for May First Friday at the Artful Dimensions Gallery.  We all like to have new art to debut at our big monthly opening events.  You will all get the First Reveal as soon as I finish the piece.  Not sure what to call it. Any suggestions????????????????

    It certainly is beautiful.
    Love the recycling bits, i.e the veg mesh bags, I've been saving these for some time now in my ongoing collection of, "what might be useful for textile crafting" bits n'bobs box!
    I also use tomato puree tubes - cut off the top and bottom of the tube, open carefully and wash carefully. Lay on a towel of similar with the inside uppermost and rub out the wrinkles using a sponge or bit of cloth and then you have a sheet of crafting metal, usually any shade of gold!
    I have used these to make embossed fish,stars etc and put them in cards, on boxes etc. If you're worried about the rough edges, turn under a small amount on the edges and press on firmly.

    That is going to be beautiful! Here are a few ideas that might spark a good name for you: Underwater Dreams, Beneath the Surface, I Dream in Blue.....I'm kind of stuck in thinking about dreams right now!

    It definitely is going to be beautiful. I love the way you've used so many different and unusual items to create this piece. I'm not good at coming up with names so I won't even go there. I'm sure you'll get some great suggestions.
