You Must meet my new Garden Mascot and Protector

I have not settled on a name yet but for some reason I think of him as a HE!! Doesn't he have a wonderful grin?? i would love to collect some suggestions for a name, if one comes to mind!
We found him yesterday at a big Antiques and Flea Market that was in Fredericksburg. This event is called the D.C. Big Flea and is usually held in Chantilly, VA just outside Washington. This i sthe third year that they have held a smaller version down close to us. This event has ONLY 400 vendors, the events near D.C have 1100 vendors!!!
The story behind this grinning serpent is magical! He is made of a bronze pot metal and was salvaged from the roof of a building in China that was being demolished. He is about 2 and a half feet long and stands about 15 inches tall. He is very heavy and you can see the markings on the bottom of his feet where he was cut from posts that held him to the rooftop. The dealer had him dated from the 1920's! He has lived out doors for all of his life so he will be living in and protecting my back yard garden. He is my very early Mother's Day present and I am smitten!! We ran into the same dealer today when we went back to the show and he said that several folks had come by with the intention of buying him- they were all dissappointed and I am soooo happy that we plucked him on the first go round!!!
Do you think that there is a chance that he will keep the squirrels out of the bird feeders???????
Heart Giveaway Update:
Tomorrow's post will have the details and photo of the Embellised heart, so check back!!

He is quite the dragon my dear, but my Chester would sit on his head and eat sunflower seeds. I think nothing scares Chester. Saw him batting at a blue jay today and I think he won. LOL At least he has me trained. But I love your dragon. Can't think of a name unless you want to name him Chester Jr. No didn't think so.LOL Sharon

Hi Elizabeth what can I say' he is divine, what a fantastic find. You are right he really does look like a he. As for a name I saw this movie and a young boy had a giant lizard creature called Nimrod and I always thought that was cool but I'm no good at naming things my silly cat is called Sibel (enough said) good luck with his name.

What a tresure! I think you must give him a Chinese name, like friend, but I don't know any chinese so I can't help you there! Maybe eat fortune cookies until you find it??? You know they always have "learn Chinese" on the back. Anyway, I think he will have lots of fun with the squirrels!!!

Oh he has to be named Haku. The most wonderful anime movie ever is "Spirited Away" and if you haven't seen it, you need to asap. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spirited_Away). Haku is the male star of the story, and one of his forms is as a dragon. It's a glorious tale of love and your glorious "keeper of the gardens" is most worthy of his name. Yes, he is definitely Haku. Hugs!

I love him too! He is definitely a 'He' and the name Thor, altho Scandinavian, fits him........hey: it fits you and me!!

My husb is always gifting me ahead of time too: I think I'm up to the year 2020 on Mothers Day gifts....but that is a good thing!!

Let us know if he works for squirrels!

He is gorgeous. My first thought was Leopold, but I would imagine a Chinese name would be best

your dragon is a fabulous find! He probably found you though...you were so smart to jump on your intuitive knowing that he must be yours!
